Ruff and Reddy (1958)

NOTE: June 3/07 - The fella who posted his rare 16mm copies of this Ruff and Reddy episode stated in the YouTube description that all copyrights belong to Warner and are acknowledged. I guess the WB lawyers agreed, as this footage has now been removed. They remain, the ever elusive Ruff and Reddy.

Hanna-Barbera's first ever television program, Ruff and Reddy, is never ever rerun ever. I don't know why - cause it's great! Here's the first half-hour episode, recently posted on YouTube. Colpix Records also put out an LP recording of this episode - the first Hanna-Barbera record. Not only is Ruff and Reddy the template for all the other cute Hanna-Barbera characters and shows to come, but much of the story in this episode (and especially the villains) feels like the predecessor to the later HB adventure cartoons. I did not realize that Ruff and Reddy had a continuous plot as opposed to individual unrelated seven minute shorts. This footage appears in seven parts, but is missing the conclusion. However, since these are very fresh posts, the person calling themself OlCathodeRay might have more to upload still.
